To start with: we want to thank the Rheinkalk AG very much for allowing us to look for minerals in their quarry!

It was a fan-tas-tic day... We were welcomed in the quarry by the Management very nice, the sun was shining, we had a good time and found nice Millerit specimens! We layed all what we found together on a newspaper, and shared it all among us 5 and after that drank a beer :-) I don't know how to have a better day! My personal best piece has about 10 goldcoloured Millerit-xx to 1,5 cm long on it, also formed as screwdrivers with tens of windings, with a dozen waterclear Calcit-xx on them, but also with Chalkopyrit-xx and Pyrit-xx on the same piece, and with 6 nice lightbrown transparent Sphalerit-xx, Calcit-xx and Siderit-xx.... and that all on 1 piece of about 4x5 cm :-) A heavenly small piece!

Harjo was invited by the Berg-Mark-Wuppertal mineral club to visit the Donnerkuhle quarry on 13-5-2006. The quarry has been known in the past for it's splendid Millerites (up to 20 cm.), and those they did find again on that day! Apart from the Millerit we found Chalcopyrit, Pyrit, Calcit, Quarz, Baryt, Dolomit and ??..). We would like to thank the Wuppertal gang very much, it was a great day with very nice company, perfect! It's forbidden to enter the quarry, only after preliminary authorisation you can enter (the site is operated by the Rheinkalk AG)

David visited the Donnerkuhle quarry in mai 2003 in an official excursion by the Gea, and found Calcit, Calcit and more (but nice!) Calcit...
